2003 True Grit Award

GM Hikaru Nakamura 

 

  Hikaru became the youngest American to earn the GM title. Hikaru was 15 years old when he earned his final GM norm. He is the youngest American GM, having eclipsed Bobby Fischer record. He accomplished this by finishing 2nd  at the 2003 GM-B Bermuda Tournament.  He also won the 2003 Western Open which fielded 9 GM and 9 IM.  He is a hard worker and an aggressive player. He  is an exciting player to watch. To get your GM title at 15 you got to be tough from both sides of the board.
