Hangin's 10 Chess Commandments 

1)      Thou shall not honor false Champions, or Shampions. When possible thy title shall only change hands via Man who beat the Man who beat the Man process.

2)      Thou shall honor thy true Champions: Steinitz, Lasker, Capablanca, Alekhine, Euwe, Botvinnik, Smyslov, Tal, Petrosian, Spassky, Fischer, Karpov, Kasparov, and Kramnik.

3)    Thou shall honor thy ex Champions rights to be seeded in the next world championship cycle's candidate matches.  

4)      Thou shall not use a computer during on line play.

5)    Thou shall not hang thy piece.   

6)     Thou shall coveted thy opponents pieces and key squares.

7)      Thou shall play for a draw only when the following situations arise:

        a) thou is in the last round and a draw will give thee a match or tournament victory.

        b) thou is playing in a simul against a strong master.

        c) thou is hopelessly behind in material. 

        d) thou has a large positional disadvantage.

        e) thou is fighting off a mate. 
         
        f) thou is in severe time pressure and will lose on time.

8)      Thou shall strive to improve one's play:
           a) thou shall study the basic positional and tactical motifs.
           b) thou shall learn the basic mating patterns.
           c) thou shall learn how to mate with king, knight and bishop vs. lone king. It’s not that hard.  
           d) thou shall learn the concept of opposition.      
           e) thou shall study all phases of the game, the opening, the middle, and the endgame.      

9)      Thou shall learn at least  three openings, one for white, and two for black.

10)    Thou shall play often,  at least once a week.  When the opportunity arises, thou shall teach and promote thy game to others.
