Here is an interesting position from Peter Heine Nielsen vs. Vasilios Kotranias. White has a strong outside passed pawn, and a knight posted on b5 controlling the c7 penetration square for the rook queen battery. The white king is safely protected by a wall of bishop and two pawns. Should he feel safe ? This is all an illusion. Vasilios takes advantage of the over worked piece and diversion motifs. He realizes that the white bishop is doing more than its share of the defensive work load. Whites position will crumble like a house of cards. Vasilios went on to win the game. |
